This letter is to solicit your financial support for the Development Through Athletics (DTA) Program. DTA is a non-profit AAU boy's basketball organization established in 1993. We showcase teams from 6th to 11th grade in nationwide tournaments in order to compete against the best teams in the country. DTA provides opportunities for players to attend college on athletic and academic scholarship in order to establish lasting careers on and off the court. Our players also take advantage of education and personal development programs in order to prepare them off the court. These individuals become community stewards and serve as role models to the next generation of student-athletes. Year round services provided students include: Skill Development Workouts, General Practice Facilities, Academic Tutoring, Computer-Based Training, ACT Preparation, Drivers Education, and Job Placement.
The DTA organization is 100% volunteer directed and 100% fundraiser and sponsorship funded. Therefore, we must fundraise and seek donations on an ongoing basis in order to cover the necessary costs for our players to participate in our program. Costs associated with this fundraising effort include: Education, Personal Development Programs, Facility Rentals, Player, Team, and Tournament Fees, Travel and Lodging, Uniforms, Equipment, and Team Gear.
As the Vice President and Director of Operations for DTA, I am responsible for ensuring that we continue to have the tools and resources necessary for our student-athletes to realize their full potential. In my persistent effort to do so, I turn to you today in request of your financial support. It is through your donation that DTA can continue to grow and carry on our mission. Your tax-deductible contribution can help provide a means for many players that would otherwise not be able to participate due to limited funds and resources. Upon your request, I will be glad to share our prior year's 990 form as filed with the IRS (DTA is a 501(c)3, ID#39-2040831).
